TITLE

There’s over 7 billion people in the world, so what makes you stand out?

You. Yes, You.

You may have a totally genius and unique product, but your brand’s personality is one of the key factors that’s going to make your customers really fall in love with your brand so that your business will stick around for the long haul.

In this video, I talk about how to bring YOU to the forefront of your brand and why you should let your personality shine through your brand.

3 Ways To Bring Your Brand’s Personality To Life

So how do you bring your brand personality to life?

First of all, let’s talk about the fact that there’s often a natural tendency to conform, even though branding is about thinking outside of the box… it’s something I’ve noticed that is very common among entrepreneurs who are in highly competitive industries.

There’s actually some psychology at work here.

For some brief context, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a concept that outlines the different levels of human needs in order of priority. At the bottom of the pyramid lies the fundamental needs such as shelter and food, while our need for self-actualization is at the top. If you notice in the diagram below, right in the middle is a need for love and a sense of belonging.

So, in relation with the hierarchy of needs, it makes sense why standing out doesn’t come as naturally in terms of business branding. We’re actually not wired to stand out from our peers because there exists an intrinsic desire to just fit in and belong.

Natural inclinations aside, how do you fight the urge to conform in terms of branding your business?

3 Ways To Bring Your Brand’s Personality To Life:

1. Share what you are passionate about

Maybe you’re passionate about dancing, art or technology. Whatever your passions may be, bring that to the forefront of your business. Don’t feel discouraged if no one else is doing it in your industry… that’s a good thing!

2. Be authentic. Be you!

If I started talking like someone else in this video, and didn’t sound like myself, you probably wouldn’t connect with me, right?

Sincerity is an important component when developing relationships with your customers!

It may seem really simple and obvious, which is exactly why it often goes forgotten. Use the language that you really want to use, and be yourself. It will help you to attract the right customers!

If you naturally speak poetically include that in your brand’s tone of voice. If you’re hilarious and make people laugh, don’t try to be serious just because it’s professional, own your gifts of making people laugh and inject humour into your brand.

3. Create connection through sharing your story with vulnerability

If you’re familiar with Brene Brown’s on The Power of Vulnerability you’ll know that vulnerability is an untapped superpower.

This is especially important if you’re in the business of helping people overcome some kind of problem. Do you remember when you had that same problem you’re now helping people with? Did you have a breakthrough moment where you overcame the problem? What experiences have you undergone in the past that has given you the knowledge to help others?

Maybe you’re a life coach and you’re helping people with authenticity or maybe you’re a personal trainer and you’re helping people lose 30 pounds. Think back to when have you had that extra 30 pounds, or when have you didn’t feel authentic?

Yes, share that story, because when you’re vulnerable, it inspires connection. You don’t need to be perfect, you just need to be you.
