Canem Systems

Who they are: Canem Systems is an electrical and mechanical company with offices throughout Canada.  

What they do: For nearly 60 years, Canem has provided pre-fabrication and project management technologies to construction projects big and small, including some of the most iconic buildings in Canada.

Why we worked with them: We began working with Canem seven years ago, when they were going through a brand overhaul.  Seven years is a long time, and having gone through a few substantial changes, which involved their parent company adding Mechanical to their suite of services, it was time for a rebrand to freshen up Canem’s identity.  They are a progressive, people-based company with strong core values, and we were happy to reconnect and help them align for the next phase of their businesses growth!

How we transformed their business: This was a complete rebrand. The first goal was to better convey the services Canem offers, which have changed over the years.  The second goal was honing in on what makes the company stand out from the competition, which we also thought had probably changed over time.

We conducted loads of customer and employee research, including a workshop with 27 key management personnel, to see how Canem’s key messages/differentiators should be.  The results underscored a common phenomenon: clients think they know why they’re different but once these ideas are tested, they’re often disproven. For Canem, the general consensus was that innovation set them apart.  But while they certainly are an innovative company, our customer results clearly showed two more essential qualities that make them excel: 1) Honouring their word; and 2) Building relationships. The rebrand reflects these core messages.

The bottom line?  Canem’s rebrand launched in spring 2018, and they’re already receiving positive feedback from their clients!
