Have you ever had a frustrating experience working with a graphic designer to create your logo design?

You’re really excited about branding your business and then it just ended up being this nightmare experience and you ended up settling just so you can get it done?

In this video, I share the number one thing entrepreneurs are missing before getting a logo design and before hiring a graphic designer.

As someone who’s worked for some of the world’s biggest brands and also working with small business owners to brand their business like the Fortune 500’s, this is one thing common mistakes I see entrepreneurs making.

What are small business owners missing in the brand? A brand strategy.

So what is a brand strategy? Well, a brand strategy includes things like your purpose statement, your vision statement, your values for your business, your positioning strategy, your business name, your brand promise, and on and on. It’s the strategy that’s acts as the architectural plan for your brand and business.

For specifics on what’s included in your brand strategy, access the Famous Brand System Checklist here:

Twitter-iconGraphic designers aren’t mind readers. Neither are your customers. Don’t start up your business without a brand strategy.

If you want to create a brand you love, don’t develop your logo design or finalize your business name before you’ve gotten crystal clear on your brand strategy first.

If you’re designer is not a mind reader your customers aren’t mind readers either. So it’s vital to get your brand strategy in place way before even hiring a freelance graphic designer because a great brand identity visualizes the brand strategy and founder’s clarity. Otherwise your logo design and graphics are just a beauty parade.

I invite you to develop your brand strategy first.

Because if you create a brand strategy first, the problem that you’re going to be facing is not; “I don’t like anything that the designer creates.” The problem that you’re going to be facing is; “Which one do I pick?” And that’s a much better problem to have, would you agree?

In the comments below, I’d love to hear from you what kind of things do you do when you’re starting your brand to get clear about your message and strategy.

Thank you so much for the advice to come up with a brand strategy before even coming up with a business name or logo! I decided that I want to start my own studio and having a strategy will really help set me apart from the competition because it will not only help me communicate with designers and the public but also help me have continuity between all the different aspects of my studio. I’ll put finding a graphic designer on hold until I figure that strategy out. Also, once I’ve figured my strategy out, what kind of advice do you have for finding good graphic designers for logo design?
